Workout Playlist

I don’t know about you, but music makes my workouts go so much smoother.  Between the beat and the lyrics, my body is able to find a rhythm that keeps it motivated to move longer than without music.

I’m currently working my way through Jen Sinkler’s #30DaysofKettlebells, so I have been listening to my fair share of music lately.  I thought it would be fun to share the Top 10 tracks that have been seeing me through these daily workouts.

Ed Sheeran – Shape of You

Okay, okay.  I know, this song is everywhere, but sometimes it’s not worth fighting the popular opinion.  Just settle in to this smooth tune and let the lyrics instruct you on how to move 😉

Lorde – Green Light

This one takes a second to build, but once it does…stand back and give me space.  LOVING this track.

A Tribe Called Red – Stadium Pow Wow

This one is for when I need to dig deep.  There’s something familiar about the beat when compared to “We Will Rock You,” but the chanting and electronic components make it indescribable.

Ella Henderson – Ghost

An old fave.  Let her insane vocals see you through your next few sets, and prepare to strut on the key change.

Katy Perry – Chained to the Rhythm

If I’m completely honest…I like to limit the amount of Katy Perry I partake in.  Don’t ask me why…it’s just personal preference.  That said…Chained to the Rhythm has been on constant LOOP during my workouts lately.  I can’t get enough of it.  Well played, Katy.  Well played.

Marilyn Manson – Cupid Carries a Gun

You know I’ve got to turn a little angsty when those reps get tough.  I can’t get enough of this rolling rhythm and Manson’s angry growling.  Oof.

clppng – Wriggle

Okay, yes.  I found out about clppng thanks to Daveed Diggs being in Hamilton, but now that I’ve found this group, I’ll never give them up.  Wriggle is insane.  Just press play and thank me later.

Little Mix – Shout Out to My Ex

No music playlist is complete without including a song from a female pop group.  End of story.

Ki:Theory – Stand By Me

Back to angsty territory.  This is my go to for whenever I’m looking to set a strength PR.

Missy Elliott – Get Your Freak On

Let’s close things out with a sensible throw back, and who better to do the honors than Missy Elliott.  Doesn’t really matter which Missy Elliott song you go with…surprise me 😉

Now press play and go get after it!  Be sure to let me know how your workouts go!
